Aislin Guajardo
As a first-generation student, Aislin's journey in education and mental health has been arduous and rewarding. Before working at Ability Counseling, she had the opportunity to work in diverse settings, including schools, jails, and probation. She also engaged in research related to consensual non-monogamy and increased her knowledge with gender issues. After receiving her Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology from the University of Denver, and the experiences from these past settings, she recognized her passion for advocacy and supporting underrepresented populations.
She is now motivated in pursuing my doctorate in clinical psychology at the University of Denver, where she is focusing on health psychology, suicidology, and developmental disabilities. She has been on a monumental journey learning how to better support individuals with disabilities while navigating systematic barriers. Her approach in therapy is to be curious and compassionate, while building a deeper understanding of my clients’ complex and multi-faceted lives. With her clients, she wants to provide a non-judgmental and supportive space where they can reconnect with themselves and grow. Her other personal interests include horror movies, cozy video games, and roller skating.
